About S Is For Stitch: 52 Embroidered Alphabet Designs

Product description A is for angel, B is for baseball, and C is for cupcake! Stitch up lots of adorable projects from A to Z with these two sets of alphabet-themed embroidery patterns for little girls and boys. Projects include quilts, pillows, soft blocks, and wall art for the nursery to help your little ones learn the alphabet, or just to make them smile. Kristyne Czepuryk’s new designs are wonderfully detailed, yet easy to try with any skill level. Learn basic stitches and tips for combining floss and fabrics, plus get ideas for embroidering on clothing and other store-bought items, too. Review Embroidery is becoming increasingly popular as a hobby, and Czepuryk adds to the growing number of modern embroidery books with this collection of small motifs that can be made individually or combined into a child’s alphabet quilt. Two variations are provided, one targeted toward girls (containing a ballerina, a tiara, and a purse) and one targeted toward boys (containing a baseball, a dinosaur, and a robot). A guide to embroidery basics and a stitch guide are included. VERDICT The motifs are sweet, and Czepuryk provides plenty of ideas for projects beyond the quilt, such as embellishing clothing or soft fabric blocks. Embroiderers who enjoy designs for children will appreciate Czepuryk’s cute motifs. ( Library Journal, Dec. 2012) I love that embroidery has become so popular again! Combining embroidery and quilting is even better. I love the alphabet designs because they are not the traditional alphabet motifs that you usually see. There is a boy and girl version of a quilt or you can mix them up. The book also has several small projects that you can make if you don’t want to tackle a whole quilt. I can think of many uses for the embroidery patterns, they are so darn cute! I think I am going to start embroidering and make a mixed up quilt since I don’t know if it will be for a boy or a girl. Kristyne gives excellent instructions so even a beginner can make this quilt. ( connectingthreads.com, 01/22/13) B is for Baseball, and Q is or Quilt! From A to Z, this book is filled with delightful embroidery alphabet designs for children...and a variety of projects—from baby blocks to pillows to quilts—to use the embroidery designs in. ( Quilter's Connection Magazine, 3/6/13) What's not to love about a collection of 52 small embroidery designs along with loads of ideas on how to incorporate them into charming and useful gifts for little boys and girls? Kristyne has designed two motifs for every letter of the alphabet and worked each of them in straightforward stitches, such as backstitch, stem stitch and satin stitch, and then combined them to make quilts, framed hangings for the nursery wall, cushions and soft blocks. No doubt, you'll think of lots more ways to use the designs to personalise clothing, create unique birthday cards or decorate soft furnishings. There's also a good introductory section on embroidery floss, fabric, transferring designs, trimming embroidered blocks and assembling a quilt. ( Australian Homespun Magazine, April 2013) You'll love Kristyne Czepuryk's adorable alphabet-themed embroidery designs—one set for boys and one for girls—in S is for Stitch. The book includes embroidery basics and stitch directions, as well as 7 projects—from quilts to soft blocks. What a fun way to learn hand embroidery! ( Quiltmaker Magazine, September/October 2013) Hand embroiders, listen up: Kristyne's designs are charming and they look good no matter where you stitch them! Her block in Volume 8 includes embroidery and her stitches are so tiny and lovely! Lots of designs in this great title, and you can add them to quilts or onesies or whatever you like. ( Quiltmaker Magazine, Fall 2013) About the Author Kristyne Czepuryk first perfected her stitching as a child, sewing her Brownie Troop badges on to her uniform. Along the way she fell in love with cloth, needles, and thread. Kristyne is a popular blogger and happy patternmaker who lives in Alberta, Canada.
