This book is the second in the 5 part series of my continuing world wide search for girl friends. I chose Mindanao, Philippines because of all the Western Embassies dire warnings about the danger of going there due to the insurrection of Abu Sayed and others . I figured there would be a paucity of "Long Noses" (white people) if they put any credence in the caveats of their Embassies. I was correct, I encountered nearly no westerners on my motorcycle tour of Mindanao. The warnings were not completely without merit as several bombs exploded in various malls and movie houses during my trip. Thankfully, none of them near me. Also I was told by locals, during one part of my trip, that the road on my intended route had been cut by rebels, forcing a detour. The danger added just enough to make the trip very exciting without actually exposing me to any serious life threat. It also weeded out the riff raff. I had the place pretty much to myself. I don't like to have competition that can interfere with the hunt, if I can avoid it. Indeed, everyone there was very happy to see a tourist, they desperately need them for the money they run through the economy. I must say that the people of Mindanao are the most friendly, helpful and kind people that I met in all of the Philippines and beyond. I hope to return there again someday.
