Alocasia brisbanensis x odora or Tiny Dancers Alocasia is an adorable aroid. This hybrid grows to a maximum of 18 inches in height. It sporadically shoots new stems upward with small cupped leaves that give the mature plant a bushy appearance. Tiny Dancer's unique leaves and small growth habit make it a highly desirable indoor plant. Plants in the Arum family, coined Aroids by the indoor plant community have become increasingly popular. In 2009, Tiny Dancers was named Most Unusual Aroid at the International Aroid Society Show and Sale. This unique aroid performs best in light shade; indoors, it should be placed in an area with bright indirect light. Alocasias and Colocasias are both referred to colloquially as "Elephant Ears", this misnomer can cause growing challenges as these species have unique growing needs. Colocasias are the true Elephant Ear plants and prefer moist soil and low light. Alocasias like Tiny Dancers prefer far less water than Coloasia plants and brighter light.
