Morchella Elata Morel Mushroom, Black Morel. Morchella elata is very similar to a Morchella Esculenta. It is difference by a darker color and larger size of the fruit body (apothecia). The cap-shaped part is narrow, conical, 4-10 high and 3-5 cm wide. The surface is covered with approximately triangular cells, bounded by more or less parallel vertical narrow folds. Cells are olive brown, mature mushrooms are brown or black-brown; Partitions are olive-ocher; The color of the fungus darkens with age. The scaboid part of the fungus is cylindrical, granular, 5-15 cm high and 3-4 cm thick, at the apex in diameter almost equal to the cap. The young mushrooms have a whitish leg, later - yellowish or ocher. Morchella elata is rare in the wild, found in small numbers.
