While regular spinach loves cooler weather, malabar spinach vines love the heat and have a unique flavor similar to swiss chard.

This vine will require support to grow on, moist soil, and plenty of sun.

Seeds sometimes have a lower germination rate unless scarified (scraped with a file or sandpaper), or soaked for several hours prior to planting. Because warm temperatures and moist soil are important for germination, seeds do best if started inside. Plant seeds .5" deep and cover pot with plastic wrap to keep seeds lightly moist without needing to water several times per day. Seeds should germinate in 1-3 weeks if kept above 70 degrees.
