Tapered Roller Bearings Tapered roller bearings are separable into a cone assembly and a cup. They are designed to accommodate combined loads, i.e. simultaneously acting radial and axial loads. Use for high-load, moderate-speed applications that include automotive axle systems and conveyor systems. (The non-separable cone assembly consists of the inner ring, the rollers, and a cage that retains & evenly spaces the rollers. The cup is simply the outer ring.) Cone Shape Tapered roller bearings distribute radial and axial loads evenly across the roller. Separable The inner ring with roller and cage assembly (cone) can be mounted separately from the outer ring (cup). Convenient The separable components are interchangeable, which facilitate mounting, dismounting and also maintenance inspection routines.
