About Comfrey - Root Cuttings - Bocking #4

Comfrey root cuttings for starting your own comfrey plants for your garden. Comfrey has long been recognized by both organic gardeners and herbalists for its great usefulness and versatility; of particular interest is the "Bocking #4" cultivar of Russian Comfrey. This strain was developed during the 1950s by Lawrence D Hills, the founder of the Henry Doubleday Research Association (the organic gardening organisation itself named after the Quaker pioneer who first introduced Russian Comfrey into Britain in the nineteenth century) following trials at Bocking, near Braintree, the original home of the organization. Comfrey Directions: Soak in water for at least 4 hours prior to planting. Plant in rich loamy soil or in high quality potting soil in a starter tray. Keep moist (plastic cover for starter tray works well. Keep well lit but away from direct sunlight which will dry the cuttings too quickly. The cuttings with small buds on them will show new growth within 3 weeks. The cuttings without buds can take as long as 8 weeks to show new growth.
