About the Author Karen Anderson is the owner of Alberta Food Tours Inc. and co-author of the guidebook Food Artisans of Alberta. She has led seven tours to India and has cooked with chefs all over the country. Since 2006, she has worked with Noorbanu Nimji, testing recipes and teaching Indian cooking classes. Matilde Sanchez-Turri was born in Calgary and raised in Southern Alberta in Claresholm and on a farm near Nanton. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies from the University of Calgary and has worked in the corporate communications arena for 20 years. With parents from Italy and Spain, food has always been a huge part of her upbringing and she loves to cook and bake fine Italian delicacies passed onto her by her mother. Matilde maintains her love of all things culinary working for Alberta Food Tours, Inc. part-time. Her favorite food is fresh bread and when she isn’t eating or thinking about eating or growing something to eat, she writes about food. She loves to travel and has visited India, the Caribbean and most of Europe. Most days you’ll find her at a dog park or on a hiking trail with her German Shepherd, Polly.
