About Trail Of Genghis Khan
2011 soundtrack composed and performed by violinist Cye Wood and former Dead Can Dance vocalist Lisa Gerrard. The Trail of Genghis Khan is the story of Tim Cope's epic solo journey on horseback from Mongolia to Hungary. Moved by Tim's story, Lisa invited Cye to collaborate with her and together they created the evocative, minimalist pieces found throughout the series. Immersing themselves in the spirit of these lands and its peoples, they combine disarmingly simple musical forms with location recordings Tim captured on his journey. These layered soundscapes conjure a place beyond language and time, and provide the foundation for Lisa (vocals) and Cye (violin) to interweave their truly unique voices into a rich, haunting tapestry of immeasurable beauty and sorrow.
