About Toscana: Land Of Art And Wonders

Product Description It might seem nearly impossible to describe Tuscany solely through unique photographs and little-known subjects. Yet this book aims at doing just that by taking you through the great moments in the history of the Etruscans, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance. Then it will take you to the “art capital of the world”―Florence―as well as through all the other large and small villages that make up the unparalleled mosaic of marvels: Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo, Siena, Pienza, and San Gimignano. It will take you from the Tuscan archipelago to the forest-covered mountains, from the beaches to the countryside, all the way to the patient human work in the marble quarries and in the most refined artisan creations. Finally, this book will show you the festivals and rituals of Tuscany, its world-renowned cuisine, as well as its legendary friendliness. About the Author William Dello Russo was born in Puglia and now lives in Milan. He has written tourist guides to Italy, contributed to art history and tourism magazines, and has authored numerous art books. Since 2014 he has been editor for the Sime Books publishing house, where he is responsible for all publications, both as author and series coordinator. Massimo Borchi was born in 1962 in Florence, where he studied architecture. He became a professional photographer in 1987. In 1991 he founded the photographic agency Atlantide Phototravel. He works with major national and international travel magazines (Geo Special, ADAC, Merian, The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, Gente Viaggi, Bell’Europa, and Viaggi e Sapori, among others). Since 1995 he has been busy with important projects for photo books, which have been printed in many countries. His latest personal projects are concentrated mostly on big cities, which have always been his preferred subject matter. With his participation in the “Tethys Gallery” project he intends to further develop his own personal style, which can be defined as Fine Art Photography, and the production of large poster-size prints in limited editions. Guido Cozzi has worked on hundreds of photographic assignments for the specialized publications of the geographic, ethnographic, and touristic sections. In 1991, together with Stefano Amantini and Massimo Borchi, he founded Atlantide Phototravel, a photographic agency specializing in travel coverage. Today he alternates photographic assignments for the major international archives with his own personal research in his environment where he experiments with various narrative styles in accordance with various themes. Stefano Amantini became a professional photographer in 1987 after earning his degree in Anthropology and gaining experience in advertising. He then decided to dedicate himself entirely to travel coverage. His cultural background and his artistic sensibility have led him to many far away destinations, including the Sahara Desert. A breakthrough came in 1991 when, together with Massimo Borghi and Guido Cozzi, he founded Atlantide Phototravel, a photographic agency specializing in travel coverage. Assignments from important magazines and his personal travels have enabled him to compile a vast photographic archive representing his own particular view of the world in which we live.
