About Historic Organs Of Modena Italy
Issued in honor of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart, and the 300th of Padre Martini, this CD presents organ pieces and transcriptions on four historic organs from the region around Modena, Italy. The instruments were built between 1694 and 1860. Liuwe Tamminga combines several nineteenth-century transcriptions and variations, sonatas, dances, and adagios with an aria, a fugue, and a Pastorale by Padre Martini, who was Mozart's mentor and counterpoint teacher in Bologna.
