About Valaquenta & Tableaux Fantastiques
The debut CD from a young Norwegian composer! Performers the world over regularly include Romberg s music in their programs, and leading Paris editor Éditions Gérard Billaudot has recently begun publishing his works. The CD features two sets of piano pieces, interpreted by French pianist Aimo Pagin. The collections were inspired by the text Valaquenta by J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings, and by a selection of paintings by Polish fantasy painter Jacek Yerka. At present Romberg lives and works as a full-time composer in Paris, writing music based largely on themes from fantasy literature, the visual arts, Celtic mythology, and comic strips.
