About Pea Patch Minstrel-style Mahogany Rhythm

TRADITIONAL MINSTREL DESIGN, EXOTIC WOOD...PLAIN PRICE. Pea Patch Minstrel Style Bones are perfect for thrifty living-history minstrel band performers, Civil War reenactors or any bones connoisseur on a budget. SOLID MAHOGANY: Mahogany is a durable lightweight exotic wood that delivers a soft dull tone. Mahogany varies considerably in color. It may be yellowish, reddish, pinkish, or salmon colored when freshly cut, maturing into a deep rich red or brown color with age. Exposure to strong sunlight may cause some fading. The wide variability in color has enabled many look-alike species to be marketed as mahogany. The interlocked grain usually produces a striped or roey figure on quartersawn surfaces. Swirl and crotch figures are also common. Irregularities in the grain often produce highly attractive figures such as, fiddleback, blister, stripe or roe, and mottle. HISTORICALLY ACCURATE DESIGN: The most popular woods during the American Minstrel Era were Ebony and Rosewood. Some folks made their own bones from local hardwoods. Now you can treat yourself to rare budget-priced rhythm bones made from exotic Mahogany. They're patterned after vintage Percy Danforth Minstrel Style Bones made by the late master woodcrafter, Ray Schairer (1922 - 2011). WHY CHOOSE THESE BONES: Living history musicians who perform at Minstrel era and Civil War gigs should choose Pea Patch Minstrel-style Bones for their historically accurate design. So if you want historically accurate minstrel style bones that are slim & trim and easy to grip; ideal for small or medium hands; professionally handcrafted one at a time from exotic hardwood and yours at a budget price, then Narrow Pea Patch Minstrel-style Mahogany Bones are for you.
