Aquatic Arts 1 B-Grade Neon Red Crayfish | Live Features

  • Neon Red Crayfish (Procambarus alleni, also known as crawdads) are hardy specimens and care is easy. Basic aquarium supplies required, including a cheap aquarium filter, such as a bio sponge filter.

  • A Large crayfish is a voracious eater and can be a threat to most aquarium animals, but they can be kept with few species of fast moving fish. Never keep crayfish in a cat fish or betta aquarium.

  • These jumbo crayfish ship as 2 in. long young adults that will grow up to 5 - 6 inches long. They feed on fish food bulk, but you can supplement their diet with healthy treats such as wafers.

  • This listing is for 1 unsexed B grade young adult crayfish - a specimen that is missing a claw or one or more legs. Lost appendages will regenerate within 1 to 2 molts (about 2 to 3 months).

  • Aquatic Arts is a US seller. All Aquatic Arts brand cheap aquarium supply, plants, animals, and aquatic discounts come with 100% alive arrival guarantee and free email support!

About Aquatic Arts 1 B-Grade Neon Red Crayfish | Live

The Neon Red (or Orange Tangerine) Crayfish is a colorful variant of same species as the Electric Blue Crayfish (Procambarus alleni). Though crayfish are often reclusive by nature, this particular species is very active by comparison and spends plenty of time climbing around the aquarium. It will eat most any meaty or plant-based foods, and it should not be kept with live plants, as it will eat them at a very fast rate. However, they generally leave Marimo Moss Balls alone. As it reaches adulthood, the Neon Red Crayfish may become aggressive towards other animals in the tank. It is important to provide ample hiding places, such as PVC pipes or some sort of decorative container with an opening. This is even more crucial when housing multiple crayfish in the same tank. Large crayfish require an aquarium filter (a canister filter is best), essential to keep the water clear. A weighted air stone or bubbler can also help with this. This is a hardy animal and good for a beginner to aquariums, but a regular water change is vital to its optimal health. Crayfish will typically eat whatever they can catch, but since they are slow moving, they are not often able to harm small, fast-swimming fish, such as a bloodfin tetra, Molly fish, etc. All of our "B-Grade" crayfish are simply specimens that are missing legs or claws that we offer at an extra discounted price. Loss of limbs is not permanent and happens very commonly with crustaceans. They are very healthy, of great quality, and will completely regenerate lost appendages within 1 to 2 molts (about 2 to 3 months).
