Lead vocalist Deirdre Scanlan, a native of Nenagh, County Tipperary, made her mark in Ireland with her solo album Speak Softly, which received widespread praise. Donal Clancy, the highly talented son! of Liam Clancy of The Clancy Brothers, came to Solas after a two-year stint in the Eileen Ivers Band.
