Fountain Grass or Pennisetum Alopecoroides Compressum makes a graceful addition to any landscape. Featuring narrow dark green foliage and bottle-brush-like pale brown plumes that flow in the wind. Fountain Grass grows 32 inches tall and 32 inches in width and easily establishes from ornamental grass seed. Unlike many flowers that fade and die off by summer's end, the Fountain Grass plumes remain attractive well in to winter. Cut back foliage in early spring for new growth. The plumes make wonderful cut or dried flowers to bring indoors. In order to bloom well, Pennisetum Alopecuroides needs a long growing season. Early springs are needed in cold zones or plant in zone 6 or warmer.
