About Large Italian Onion Ramata Di Milano Rossa Around

Aunique-shaped redvariety from northern Italy weighting of 3.5 to 4 oz. One of the best onions for fall and winter consumption with a long shelf life. Plant onions in the spring or in the southern area in October-December for a harvest in the summer. You can start indoors or directly in the garden. Sow seeds1 inch deep in fertile, well-draining soil and ½ inch or more apart. Cover with 1 inch of soil mix. If planting in rows, space 1.5 to 2 feet apart. Once seedlings have leaves, thin them down to 3 to 4 inches apart. Transplant outdoors about 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost. Water frequently. Once the tops begin to lay over, stop watering and harvest the onions.
