FiveOaks Firewood is kiln dried to reduce moisture and remove impurities making it the perfect cooking wood. Our ~5" Tiny Splits are ideal for portable and small wood fired pizza oven like the ooni, gozney roccbox, bertello, pi pizza oven, brick pizza oven, and any wood fired pizza oven. Kiln drying leaves the natural wood sugars intact which gives that great campfire flavor. It does not produce a lot of smoke, it burns more cleanly than seasoned wood, and the high temperatures of the kiln cleanses it of impurities making it safe for cooking. Can't decide who to buy your wood from? If you like making purchases based on less impact to our environment, we believe we are leagues above the rest. Our firewood is sourced from state forester managed timber in Northwest PA. What does that mean? The states require the stewardship of their lands by certified foresters who cut down trees for the health of the forest. In addition to our firewood being ethically and sustainably sources, our kilns that are used to dry our firewood are fueled with virgin waste wood vs the more common and less environmentally friendly fossil fuels. This virgin waste wood comes from the heart of amish country; the waste wood is comprised of castoffs from sawmills. The state requires the waste wood to be disposed of responsibly vs burned. We pick them up from sawmills and turn them into many useful products. We refer to is as "virgin" because the wood has never been used for anything.
