H. ROBERT HORVITZ Nobel Prize-winner in Medicine (2002), H. Robert Horvitz signs a card Signature: "H Robert Horvitz", 5x3 card. A professor of biology at MIT, H. Robert Horvitz (born 1947) earned a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2002 for his research on genes controlling cell death in nematodes. Because the genome of the nematode is fully known, Horvitz could identify mutations in the worm, cloning and analyzing the mutants. Horvitz has gone on to study how genes control the development of the nervous system and how the nervous system controls behavior. He is now focused on the human gene responsible for the inherited form of ALS ("Lou Gehrig's Disease"). Stray ink marks to left of signature.
