About Airfix Supermarine Spitfire MK IXc 1:24 WWII

Description One of the most recognizable aircrafts of World War II showcasing its elliptical wings, the Spitfire was one of England's most successful defenders throughout the war. Rolling off the assembly line in 1938, the Spitfire began its career as one of the most popularly used short range fighter for the Royal Air Force. During the Battle of Britain, shortly after the Germans defeated France, during the battle that lasted from September 1940 through May 1941, Spitfires helped protect the skies against the Luftwaffe as they tried to attack the factories they were built in. This victory over the Nazis became a huge turning point in the war as it was the first major defeat against the German military forces as they tried to take over the whole of Europe. The Spitfires is a symbol of this victory as they fought the continuity of the war , helping the allies change the winds of the war and bringing them to victory.
