The Micro-COD method is quickly becoming the method of choice for organic pollutants in wastewater. The results are more reproducible than the BOD test and are available in two hours rather than five days. In many situations COD data may be allowed where BOD compliance monitoring data is required. COD testing can give preliminary (non-reportable) results in as little as 15 minutes for use as an operations control tool to help identify system upsets. Test vials can be used in combination with a LaMotte SMART Colorimeter to provide a package that makes COD testing easy, fast and inexpensive. It also provides accurate results without a chemist. Vials feature premixed reagents and twist caps for convenience, and a choice of EPA approved (method 410. 4) mercury vials, or a non-mercury version (for easier reagent waste disposal). The COD Block Heater (Thomas number 9855E85) is preset to the correct 150°C temperature.
