About Professional Aluminum Anodizing Pigment Dyes | Blue

READ SDS SHEET PRIOR TO HANDLING AVOID INHALATION, INGESTION, EYE AND SKIN CONTACT KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN Royal Blue - Blue E-G is an anodizing dye. Use Blue E-G only on aluminum. It is not intended for use on any other metals or materials. Blue E-G can change its shade of blue depending on how long it is in the dye bath. It can be a pale grayish blue if you do a shorter anodizing cycle. For a longer duration in the anodizing bath and in the dye bath, Blue E-G will look like a vivid sky blue. The anodizing process parameters have a significant impact on the properties of the oxide formed. This means that the color is dependent on the anodizing process. Blue E-G is RoHS compliant. Anodizing is an electrochemical conversion process. Anodizing changes the outer surface of the aluminum. Anodized aluminum has different characteristics than raw aluminum. Some of the characteristics of anodized aluminum include durability and weight. (It is lighter weight than stainless steel.) The process of “anodization” creates a thick oxide layer. This thick oxide layer makes it very hard, quite scratch resistant and improves its corrosion resistance. Also, the thick oxide layer makes it easier to clean than raw aluminum. Because of its porous nature, anodizing makes it possible to dye aluminum many colors. Anodized aluminum can replace expensive stainless steel in certain applications. Some applications for anodized aluminum are automotive, aerospace, electronics, furnishings, sports equipment, hobby & miniature parts, etc. Specifications on Blue E-G Concentration: The 80 mL bottle makes 7.6 L (2 gal.) pH: 5.4-6.0 Raise with ammonium hydroxide, lower with acetic acid. Temp: 130-140°F. Light Fastness: 7-8 (Lightfastness describes how resistant the dye is to fading when exposed to light.) Time: 4-10 minutes depending on saturation preference.
