Morningstar Remote Temperature Sensor | World Features

  • The RTS is compatible with SunSaver MPPT, TriStar MPPT, SunKeeper, SunSaver Duo, and ProStar whenever the temperature at the battery will be more than 5°C (9°F) different than the temperature at the controller.

  • Improves battery charging in systems that experience temperature variations during the year

  • Highly recommended for charging in systems with VRLA lead acid battery types (Gel, AGM, etc.) when the battery temperature will be more than approximately 10°F (5°C) different from the controller

  • Use of the RTS is required for VRLA temperature compensated charging with all TriStar models

  • Not required for lithium battery charging

  • The RTS is compatible with SunSaver MPPT, SunSaver Duo, SunKeeper, and all ProStar and Tristar controller models

  • The RTS is protected from lightning surges and short circuits.

  • The sensor is encapsulated in epoxy inside a power lug housing for maximum protection from harsh environments,

  • Five year warranty

About Morningstar Remote Temperature Sensor | World

Morningstar’s Remote Temperature Sensor (RTS) provides improved battery charging in solar systems that experience temperature variations during the year. The RTS measures temperature at the battery and the controller uses this data for very accurate temperature compensation. Use of the RTS is recommended whenever the temperature at the battery will be more than 5°C (9°F) different than the temperature at the controller. The TriStar has no on-board temperature compensation; therefore the use of the RTS is required for temperature compensated charging. Other Morningstar controllers will default to an on-board temperature sensor if a RTS is not connected.
