THE STORY OF THE MATER ECCLESIAE MOSAIC IN ST PETER'S SQUARE: This amazing Rosary beads is dedicated to the Virgin of Mater Ecclesiae "Mother of the Church" depicted in the mosaic placed in St Peter's square in December 1981. This mosaic is the sign of St John Paul II immense affection to the Blessed Mother. The origin of the story can be traced back to May 1981, some months before the installation of the Mosaic into the Square. It was, exactly, on May 13th when our beloved Saint John Paul was shot into the square during one of his numerous Papal Audience. The Pope was shot in the abdomen and collapsed. John Paul underwent a critical surgery but after 22 days of recovery to the Gemelli's Hospital he returned to the Vatican and he was safe and sound!! This miraculous healing was attributed to the Virgin of Fatima. As the story told us, on that same date, on May 13th, some 64 years earlier, Our Lady had appeared to the three shepherd of Fatima. The assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II took place on the anniversary of the Marian apparition in Fatima. John Paul's life was preserved thanks to the Virgin Mary. As a sign of gratitude he decided to put an image of the Blessed Mother in the Square. This image of the Virgin is unique, since there are no other images dedicated to the Blessed Mother in St Peter Square. FEATURES: All our Rosaries are made in the of Italy.
