Fletcher-Terry Gold-Tip Handheld Glass Features

  • PROFESSIONAL GLASS CUTTER - MADE IN THE USA: This handheld glass cutter is the perfect tool to score and break out glass for all of your home projects including window repair, framing, and decorative pieces.

  • CARBIDE SCORING WHEEL: With a superior-grade carbide wheel, this professional tool will give you extended scoring life for all your glass projects and repairs.

  • ERGONOMIC GRIP: The classic contoured handle comes in straight and ball-end styles. To properly hold it, place the cutter between the first and second finger.

  • MAKING THE SCORE: Draw the cutter across the glass (on a flat surface) along a straight edge only once. Do not repeat the cut. Use only enough pressure to make a light score from edge to edge.

  • KEEP YOUR CUTTER IN GOOD CONDITION: Once you are done completing a project with your glass cutter, lightly oil the scoring wheel in order to maintain it and keep the blade in good condition.

About Fletcher-Terry Gold-Tip Handheld Glass

Fletcher-Terry is the best one-stop shop for all of your glass-cutting needs. Handheld cutters don't cut glass; glass is scored by a scoring wheel drawn along the surface and then broken out. As you roll this gold-tip cutter, a minute fracture in the surface called a fissure will develop. A fissure will yield a good, clean, and strong edge and is practically invisible when looking at the glass surface. If the surface is not clean or the score is white or gritty, this may indicate that a gouge or scratch has been made. The glass can still be broken out in this case, but the edge will be chipped and weak and may even cause glass failure, unless it is ground or belted to remove the nicks. Some practice may be required for the user to get the feel of applying the maximum force without crushing. It is essential that the user maintains the same amount of force throughout the entire cut. Be sure to thoroughly clean the glass's surface before you begin cutting. It is also important to note that the cutting line shouldn't be cut repeatedly. For good control, the top of the cutter must lean into the direction of the cut. Also be sure to start at the edge and allow the cutter to run off the bottom edge. If you have made a quality fissure, breakout should be simple. A bend of only 2–3 degrees should provide sufficient tension for a successful breakout along the running cut. Fletcher-Terry is the global brand and leading manufacturer of tabletop, wall-mounted, and free-standing substrate cutters, points and drivers for picture framing, handheld glass cutters and pliers, and carbide scoring wheels.
