0.025" Thick heat treated to 50-55 rockwell C hardness These are much stronger than the regular mild steel scales They are a dark grey color or mottled rust color and vary. Mild steel rusts. Scale will vary in appearance depending on the stage of this process. You may get light grey scales, or dark oily grey, or rusty, or partially rusty. All of this is normal and expected with mild steel.
