About Botswana & Zimbabwe
Botswana is one of the nicest and best-run nations in Africa. Although much of the centre of the nation consists of barren desert landscape, the Chobe river delta makes up for everything. Entry to the nation is easy, either by air or road, and traveling around the nation is easy. Naturally, the map shows roads and tries to portray road conditions accurately, but also includes safari camps, rock paintings, villages that are often little more than a kraal, gas stations outside of major urban areas, and an excellent inset map of Gaborone. The nation map for Zimbabwe graces the other side of the sheet of paper. Zimbabwe is my favorite nation in Africa, simply because I lived there for several years and came to know and love the place. Sadly, since independence in 1980, the nation continues to be an international pariah with minimal investment, although its potential is enormous. It is a truly marvelous country, but suffering grievously under an authoritarian regime. As such, the marketability of a separate map of Zimbabwe is uneconomic at this point in time and the best we can do to keep tourism alive in this darkest part of Africa is to tie it to one of the shining lights of democracy and stability - Botswana.
