Product Description Set against the sweeping savannas and deserts of Southern Africa amidst the political and economic crisis of the mid-80s, Scars of the Leopard follows a group of vigilantes struggling to uncover and stop a nefarious operator wreaking havoc on the global financial market.New Zealander Dave Old, a former French Foreign Legion soldier, uses his army references and clearances to set himself up as a security consultant in Johannesburg. He begins to track a mysterious figure, code named Vulcan after the Roman God of fire, who unwittingly imprisoned and tortured him in the past. In his quest to hunt down and kill him, Dave discovers his old adversary Vulcan, a powerful corporate raider with fierce political ambition, is also being pursued by the three world superpower’s intelligence agencies, the CIA, KGB and SIS. Joining forces with Richard Black, the maverick heading the British contingent of the joint-agency investigation, Dave becomes an independent agent-at-large to expose Vulcan’s planned hostile seizure of an oil and mining multinational and eventual coup of South Africa’s government. Agent Black sets Dave and his companions on his trail. Because of his formidable skills, he is covertly recruited to work for Vulcan to silence or kill Karen de Lout, president of de Lout Investments Vulcan intends to control. Dave appears to do his bidding to get close to him and befriends the would-be target, Karen de Lout, whose husband Vulcan murdered during his first failed takeover attempt. Eventually the unlikely pair strike a deal and band together to snag their common enemy. They become embroiled in his complex and murderous plot to end his wanton destruction and change the course of history. An African Adventure at its finest!" - RJBrenner ★★★★★ "A gripping story of ruthless power struggles and survival in a world full of corruption and betrayal." - Hal Tapley, Up, Up and Away ★★★★★ "This story captivated and astounded me! Especially since the author grew up in the wilds of New Zealand, raised by the Maori that taught him not to eat his own poo." - Donovan Smith - Owner Ngala Wildlife Preserve ★★★★★ From the Author I absolutely loved creating the character of Dave Old and taking him on this adventure with the other characters, but in particular the always enigmatic Richard Black; both of whom can be found again in the next book in my African series, White Gold. I had an absolute blast writing Scars of the Leopard; I hope you have as much enjoyment reading it too. From the Inside Flap Most characters depicted during this text are imaginary and bear no resemblance to any known, living persons. Also, the establishments of de Lout Investments and Network have no known equivalents in real life anywhere in the world. However, as a number of the events portrayed in this book actually happened, the main characters' names have been changed to protect their identity. Also, inasmuch as research for the book would allow, certain world events described throughout the book actually took place. Scars of the Leopard is a blend of fact and fiction. Which is which? You decide. From the Back Cover Utter disbelief; that's what I felt. Not necessarily at the words of the assessment in front of me, but at the emotions it provoked. Hurt, bewilderment, numbed incredulity at what she'd said and was still saying. The plush interior of the office faded from my mind as I tried to focus on her words.             'Dave, look, there's good action and attention to detail in the manuscript, but some of the critical scenes..
