At the end of the 13th century, the sword ruled supreme as the primary weapon of Knights and Men-At-Arms. However, with the introduction of steel plate armor, the popularity of the sword as a battlefield weapon began to wane. You see, the problem was the sword couldn't cut or crush steel plate and had to be specially designed for use only as a thrusting weapon if it was to have even a chance at piercing plate armor. Weighing a little over 2 1/2 lbs., our War Hammer is highly maneuverable and can be easily wielded with one or both hands which serves four purpose: Stunning, Piercing, Stabbing and Deflecting Swords. The head is drop forged out of iron with a heavy toothed head. This means the point of the spike and enormous hammer face are fully hardened so they can pierce and crush tough materials without failing while the rest of the hammer is left soft to absorb the shock of heavy blows. The handle of our War Hammer has been designed to be equally tough. Made of natural brown wood, the handle extends an enormous 21 1/4 inch long it provides tremendous leverage so enormously powerful blows may be struck. We have also added a 2 1/4 inch spike cap at the end of the handle, helping to protect the soldier from all attacks. At the top of the head is a 3 1/2 inch spike, enabling the wielder to use this hammer as a thrusting weapon. *Please note that due to the carbon steel construction of this handmade sword, there may be slight imperfections including some rusting on this item. This rust is easily removable and should not deter from the long term value of this item. Further rusting can be avoided by proper maintenance of the blade.
