John J. Pershing (1860-1948) was an officer in the United States Army and was the only living person to rise to the highest rank ever held in the Army: General of the Armies. He was also the founding father of The United States Army Band in 1922. A commemoration to this great man and his role with the United States Army Band, ""Pershing's Own"" contains many fantastic songs including Summon the Heroes, Close Harmony, and Dance of the Jesters.
