Description GALE ROBBINS She signs a handwritten note (1956), effusively praising another singer, Hildegarde Sell, for a performance in Los Angees Autograph Note signed: "Hildegarde!/You are fabulous as/always - There is only one you/That's all. We loved it. You are/very much the 'incomparable'/There's no one like you./Sincerely/Gale Robbins/August 15, 1956", 10x7 album page. Ink note (unknown hand):"Ambassador Hotel- Aug. 15, 1956, Los Angeles, California." Also signed on verso by several persons, most with accompanying notes. However, there is insufficient information here to identify further "Dorothy Hall", "Wendy Hall", "Bob Hall", "Clem Hofstead", "Emily Herwig", "Connie Warburton" [who has penned an autograph musical quotation], "Father Spalding", "Irene Atwood", or 1 unidentified signer. Singer and actress Gale Robbins (1921-1980) sang with the big bands of Hal Kemp and Ben Bernie in the early 1940s, and appeared in her first film, In the Meantime, Darling, in 1944. She made the cover of Yank, the serviceman's magazine, that year, and toured with Bob Hope in 1945. Other film roles included Three Little Words (1950) and Calamity Jane (1953). She released an album of romantic songs, I'm a Dreamer. Robbins made occasional TV appearances in the 1950s and 1960s, including Mr. Ed, Perry Mason and Gunsmoke. Robbins' ANS, and the tributes on verso, were penned to cabaret singer Hildegarde Sell (1906-2005), also noted for her recordings and TV specials. Trimmed unevenly at top edge. Left edge ragged from previous binding. Soiled and stained. Otherwise, fine condition. - Please contact us if you have any questions or require additional information. HFSID 22834
