About The Story Of A Hurting Mom: From Broken To Mended

How does a woman become a Hurting Mom? Every woman’s story is different, every wayward child, unique. Cathy Taylor’s story of learning to surrender her prodigal child to God while trusting Him to restore her own peace and joy is one that might be familiar to you. Raised in a home where Christianity was the foundation, Cathy found herself wandering far from her faith into a pattern of alcohol abuse and divorce. As she pursued her own selfish lifestyle her children became victims of neglect and by the time she was ready to turn her life around, one of her daughters was not only addicted to drugs, but she was also spinning out of control in other areas of her life. That was when Cathy began to suffer the pain, anxiety, fear, guilt, and shame of being a hurting mom. Although your story may be different than Cathy’s, there are probably many similarities. Maybe your child has overdosed repeatedly on drugs, is estranged from your family, engages in self-harm, has an eating disorder, has pursued an alternative lifestyle, or has even tried to commit suicide. Perhaps you are a Hurting Grandma raising your grandkids because of the dysfunction of your child, or your child is keeping your grandkids away from you. You wrestle with how this has happened in your family and you feel as though it is your fault. No matter what the issue or addiction, you love your child and desire the best for them. But how do you cope with your own heartache? How do you move beyond the daily discouragement that you experience as a hurting mom? Cathy Taylor knows how you feel. As a Celebrate Recovery Ministry Leader and State Representative she has seen the brokenness of those who enable others and struggle with codependency. She knows the importance, and has found freedom in her own recovery, by working through the 12- steps herself. In fact, she is a firm believer in the recovery process, whether it is through Ala-non, Nar-anon, Alcoholics Anonymous, or Celebrate Recovery. Cathy honestly and transparently details her journey in this moving biography as the talks about her battle with hopelessness and depression and then overcoming it all through Jesus Christ. She knew she couldn’t carry the burden alone and she began to seek out other women who were hurting over their children to find support and connection. The hope she found gave her the desire to help other hurting moms. She wrote a curriculum, which has drawn many moms to join her community of support. There are other support groups and ministries that provide recovery and sober living houses, but who helps the moms of children that are addicted or making other poor choices that are destructive and hurtful to themselves and their families? Here, women have found a new way to deal with their broken hearts, as they find freedom from their codependent behavior, the fear of being alone, and the guilt and shame that have kept them isolated. From Broken to Mended is a journey of hope and healing. Join the family and find their warm embrace! A must read!
