It was a Friday afternoon and the traffic was very busy in a normally quiet part of northwest Wisconsin. Cops were everywhere and had their lights turned on. "What is going on?" he thought to himself. Then, he remembered that a local deputy sheriff had been shot and killed. This was a long funeral procession that Rusk County Deputy Sheriff, Dan Glaze, Jr. had in his honor. The streets of Rice Lake, Wisconsin would be packed for quite a while. Officers attended the event from as far away as Lake Delton, Wisconsin, over a three-hour drive from the Wisconsin Dells area. How could all of these officers afford to be away from their hometown? It was hard to imagine such a funeral procession unless you were there to observe it.
