This Sealmaster ERX-HIY Series expansion-type ball bearing insert with setscrew locking collar and Nomex felt seals is suitable for use in mounted bearing housings in dry high temperature environments where thermal expansion of the guided shaft is greater than can be accommodated by standard expansion-type bearing inserts, such as in ovens. The outer bearing surface has a snap ring that sits in a groove to locate the insert within its housing. This bearing insert is made from ASTM International 52100 high carbon steel and its rings are coated with black oxide for corrosion resistance. The bearing insert has a heat treated inner race for wear resistance and an outer race with a brass land riding retainer that spaces the ball bearings for even load distribution and prevents contact to reduce friction, vibration, and noise. Lubrication grooves and oil holes in the outer bearing ring feed Krytox GPL227 high temperature grease through the bearing and a tapered race profile allows lubricant to more easily flow back into the raceway. A collar extends from the bearing inner ring and setscrews lock the collar and bearing onto the shaft. This bearing allows self-realignment and compensates for static and dynamic alignment errors, has an operating temperature range of 200 to 400 degrees F, and has low friction Nomex felt and flinger seals to retain lubricant and protect against contamination that would shorten the bearing life. This ball bearing insert is suitable for use in carrying shafts with radial and thrust loads in high-temperature conveyor applications, such as in industrial furnaces and bakery ovens.
