About My New Normal: A Mother’s Story Of Love And Loss

Product Description I woke up early on November 11, 2016, to learn that my only child, my 22-year-old daughter Cassidy, was dead. A fentanyl overdose had ripped her body from us on her bathroom floor just after midnight. A month later, through a shroud of grief, I felt a tug. It began as one thought that grew into words strung together in my head, which was fueled by the constant pull from somewhere I couldn’t see: Write, write, write. Like a child pulling at my sleeve, asking for attention . . . Mom, Mom, Mommy, MOM! WRITE YOUR STORY! You are about to witness what it was like for me to survive the first year of this devastating LOSS as I navigate through the pain, tears, and even laughter when I have had no choice but to laugh or cry. This is my new normal. My daughter is one of the far too many that are dying from this epidemic. I miss her deeply and I know I can never have her back. About the Author Charla Bocchicchio is an actress and acting coach. She appears in films, TV and commercials both locally and nationally. She started writing a blog in 2016 after she lost her only child, 22 year old Cassidy, to a fentanyl overdose. Through that blog, she began to find her voice as a grieving mother that would one day be okay and eventually help others by bringing into the light what many were going through in the darkness of their own minds. Charla now speaks at treatment centers and high schools to spread awareness about Substance Use Disorder, bringing a message of love, acceptance and non-judgment. She truly believes this is the only way to fight the disease: to stop the stigma surrounding it so that one day seeking appropriate and effective treatment for SUD is as normal and accepted as getting treatment for diabetes or cancer. Charla is married to a wonderful, supportive man, John. He has always believed in her and held her up. And without his love, she wouldn't know how to function in the world any longer. They live in Salt Lake City with their amazingly intuitive Golden doodle, Zoey. In her spare time, Charla can be found in the yoga studio.
