About MMRS The Hunchback Of Notre Dame(1956) DVD Anthony

The film takes the audience to medieval Paris, where all the action takes place. The gypsy Esmeralda drives men crazy with her beauty. Claude Frollo, a stern priest from Notre Dame Cathedral, is secretly in love with her. The pupil of the holy father, the hunchback Quasimodo, is also fascinated by the swarthy dancer. And the girl remains loyal to an aristocrat named Phoebus. The priest, drugged with jealousy, wounds him. Esmeralda is accused of a crime and the judges sentenced the girl to death by hanging. Phoebus does nothing to save her, but the hunchback Quasimodo comes to the aid of his beloved. The ending of the film is partially different from the novel: Esmeralda was killed by an arrow during the storming of the cathedral. Her last words: "Life is beautiful" (fr. "C'est beau, la vie").
