Guthrie McCabe serves as sheriff in a small town, for which he receives 10% of the income of the local saloon. One day, Lieutenant Jim Gary appears here with his cavalry detachment to offer McCabe the following job: to track down white people in the Indian territories, kidnapped during the recent war with the Comanches. A cynical sheriff is not ready to risk his life for a cause that, in his opinion, is not worth it, because in the years since the abduction, the captives either died or forgot their past life and became Indians.
