Sashiko samplers are 100% cotton. The designs on the samplers are printed with washout stitching lines. ***The design is printed on one half of the sampler. The other half of the sampler has instructions which will wash out. You can stitch through both layers for a little heavier fabric if using it for a quilt square or you can stitch through a single layer and add your own backing. In Japan, the samplers are stitched through both layers, hemmed and use for tea towels or table decorations. *** A great take along project, no chart or hoop is needed. Sashiko is an easy over-under running stitch. Just stitch right on top of the printed lines. Sew easy - sew much fun. As the largest supplier of sashiko items, we have everything you need to complete your sashiko project. **** If you haven't done sashiko before, please let me know, and I will be happy to include an English instructions sheet.
