He was a practicing physician specializing in neuroscience and a member of the National Academy of Medicine in France. In addition, he was a highly accomplished figurative sculptor. His works are found in the Musee d'Orsay. Allana M. Benham is a practicing artist and a specialist in artistic anatomy. She teaches at Atelier de Bresoles in Montreal.
