It consists of a valve body with a hollow chamber, called the float chamber, filled with liquid. The valve body also has an inlet and an outlet, as well as a control element such as a ball or disc attached to the float. When the liquid flow decreases, the float and control element go down, closing the outlet opening and preventing the liquid from flowing.
