About Eye On The Ball

Product Description Liam Osborne has a dream - to play professional football for Clifton Rangers. The year is 1989. Clifton Rangers have gone from Division One champions and European Cup winners to being one of the favourites for relegation from Division Two. Former player and current manager Harry Welch is desperate for a return to the glory days, but he is beginning to think it may never happen. Legendary scout Len Carlton thinks he may have discovered someone to answer all their prayers except there is a problem. Liam is a shy 17-year-old from a broken home who may not be ready for the harsh world of professional football. Things are not going to come easily for Liam. Is he strong enough to fight for his dream? Can he convince the people around him that he is worthy of his opportunity? Or is he not up to the challenge? Inspired by his experiences as a professional footballer is this debut novel from Anthony Potts. It is a chance to go behind the scenes in the brutal world of professional sports. About the Author Anthony Potts was born in 1972 in South London. He is a new author who has just released his debut novel Eye on the Ball. The book is based on his experiences and insider's knowledge from his time as a Professional footballer. In the book he takes an uncompromising look at the harsh world of professional sports. On leaving school he joined Tottenham Hotspur on YTS forms before signing a 3-year professional contract. He left Tottenham in 1992 and travelled to New Zealand to play for Wellington United. Since returning to England he has played and coached semi-professionally for a number of non-league football clubs. He is a qualified football coach and has managed at academy level for Charlton Athletic. Injury problems meant that he had to retrain as a teacher in 1995. He has now been a teacher for more than 20 years at various Inner London schools. He is currently working as a Primary schoolteacher at an International school in Ningbo, China.
