About Begonia

Begonia 'Withlacoochee" is a trailing begonia with leaves that are green on top and red underneath. When Begonia 'Withlacoochee" blooms, several small white flowers appear. This plant has moderate to high light needs but will tolerate lower light showing sparser growth. Begonia 'Withlacoochee" does not like to have standing water on it's leaves.   Container Gardens/Terrariums/Houseplant: Begonia 'Withlacoochee" does well in the humid environment of a container garden/terrarium. Keep soil moist and standing water off of the leaves. Begonia 'Withlacoochee" has a trailing nature which works well in a hanging basket.    Vivariums/Animal Terrariums: Begonia 'Withlacoochee" should be considered a background plant as it will grow rather tall. Plant in the back portion of a naturalistic vivarium in a well-draining substrate such as ABG mix. It will climb on the hardscape and grow towards the light source and has moderate to high light needs. Water around the root area as this plant does not appreciate standing water on it's leaves. Begonia 'Withlacoochee" will grow into a fuller, bushier plant under bright light but can tolerate low light conditions, but will not be as full. Begonia 'Withlacoochee" can be a very fast grower in the proper growing conditions. It does not require air circulation as long as it's leaves are kept dry. In a vivarium, Begonia 'Withlacoochee" makes a great focus plant with it's showy foliage.   As good practice, Josh's Frogs recommends washing all plants thoroughly removing as much soil as possible with dechlorianted water before placing them in their final home.
