Sam Maceo and his brother, Rosario, operated the Balinese Room, Texas' finest night club and casino, from 1941 until 1957. The Balinese was the flagship of the Maceo's giant gambling and entertainment syndicate in the "Free State" of Galveston. Located on a pier 600 feet out into the Gulf, the Balinese Room was incredible: air conditioning, casino gambling, superb food and drinks, and stellar entertainment.
