About Memento Mori Copper Reminder Coin

The long history of "Memento Mori" reminders includes coins. We have added our own spin on the concept and included a new reverse side, “Memento Vivere” which translates to “remember that you have to live.” We believe there is a beautiful balance between accepting mortality and embracing life. Memento mori (Latin: "Remember that you have to die.") is the medieval Latin Christian theory and practice of reflection on mortality. Especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. Memento vivere (Latin: "Remember you have to live.") Know that your time is short in the grand scheme of things. So have fun while you are here. This solid copper coin is about 1/2 ounce, or 30 grams of solid bullion grade pure copper. We have chemically and manually aged the coin so the patina looks great right out of the package and will look even better with more wear from handling and daily carry. The product is treated to look as if it has been handled and circulated. This process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science, coloring and patinas will vary. No two are exactly the same! Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. Original coin art by Michael Shantz Shire Post Mint.
