Please Note: The lamp comes with TWO bulbs. One shortwave and one longwave UV bulb. Only one bulb can be used at a given time in order to switch between shortwave and longwave UV. The side LED is a white light flashlight to help with night hunting of fluorescent minerals.

The lamp design includes a specialized quartz optical filter that blocks visible light generated by the bulb while allowing the invisible UV rays to pass through. Ultraviolet UV have many uses besides the collecting of fluorescent minerals. Just some uses include: Stamp collecting, A/C repair, , pet urine detection, currency detection, document verification, resin glue curing, tin glass detection, antique repair detection, and many more! Side Led white light flashlight is part of the lamps design allowing for easier night hunting of fluorescent minerals. The white light provides the ability to move around in the dark and then quickly switching to UV to discover new rock finds. The lamp holder can only hold one type of UV output at a time.
