Use light amount of soap. Allow to dry completely before use. Line the pie crust or pastry with parchment paper\baking paper. Fill with pie weights. Make sure the weights are evenly distributed around the pie dish. Bake in a preheated oven to 375°F (190°C) until the edges of the crust are starting to brown, about 15-16 minutes. Remove pie from the oven and carefully lift the parchment paper (with the weights) out of the pie. Place the pie shield around the crust and return to the oven. Bake until the bottom crust is golden brown (for a fully baked pie crust) or until the bottom crust is just beginning to brown (for a partially baked pie crust). Wash the pie weights after cool down with clean water by hand and soap. Let it dry completely before storing. How to Use the Pie Shield: Place the shield around the crust edges. Adjust to the desired pie size by sliding the lock into the notch and secure in place. Bake the pie per recipe instruction.
