And the beautiful craft work of different states brought me closer to my dream, which is to promote the craftwork of India. I was born in the city of joy – Calcutta – now known as Kolkata. My family soon shifted to New Delhi where I did my schooling and college. I grew up in a family where culture and tradition were of great importance. My family has been involved in social activities for a long time now. We have also been involved in charitable works for the aged, for underprivileged children, and medical institutions assisting the poor. All my life I was taught to have a sense of generosity toward the less fortunate and to offer a helping hand to needy. Apart from my active involvement in these activities, I was very keen on art and culture. Each state in India has a unique beauty and this is very much depicted in their handicrafts. My interest in India's crafts led me to earn a diploma in export management. With this in hand, I began coordinating sales for several artisans from different parts of the country. During this time, I noticed a lot of artisans who were such experts in their fields but who had not been able to market their products because they …
