The system uses air injection with advanced catalytic media to remove iron and manganese from the water. During the backwash process, the system introduces fresh air into the top of the tank. As the water passes through the pocket, it is infused with the oxygen in the fresh air, and the advanced catalytic media is a catalyst between the iron, manganese, and the air. The oxidation process is almost instantaneous; the iron and manganese precipitate and are trapped by the media bed. The system's electronic control valve automatically backwashes the system to clean the filter media and flush the precipitated iron and manganese down to the drain.
