Contrabando -- smuggling -- is the subject of three of the songs on this collection of music from the Texas-Mexican border. If you don't speak Spanish, and don't read the booklet, this music sounds uncommonly cheery. But, translated, the lyrics are pure mayhem -- a woman who murders her husband so she can go out and party, smugglers betraying one another, martyrs to the Revolution, and on and on.
