About Sacred Fireplace: The Life & Teachings Of A 37th

This book brings you deeply into the Lakota cultural and it's beautiful spirituality. Pete shares his sacred dream and how he ran away from it for 17 years, becoming a medicine man even though he knew he came from 36 generation of Lakota medicine men. As he fulfills his destiny, several people tried to write a book on him. He denied them as he felt some day people would want to hear about the Lakota from a Lakota mind. He wrote this book mainly for his Lakota people, as they had lost all their sacred teachings and they were going to books like Black Elk Speaks to learn how to do their sacred ceremonies that were designed to help them. Black Elk was Pete's uncle and he knew him. Black Elk was heyoka (the medicine of a heyoka is that can say and do things backwards). He did this book so the pressure would be removed, as medicine men and ceremonies were under attack. As there is always a element of doing thing backwards in life, most of life follow a clockwise pattern. Pete knew that his people needed this instruction in order to get the most out of these sacred rites given to his people. He felt the first step of healing his people was to bring them back to how the Creator made them and from their the healing would continue. So he tells how these sacred ceremonies should be done and he had his son, Zintkala Oyate, spiritually bring you into the experience of each of these. This is his 7th child, who he called to come to continue the Spotted Eagle medicine way. He was born with the medicine. This book shares Pete's struggles of being a 37th Lakota medicine man in a world that he was trying to make right for his people. He shares old stories that will help you understand the beauty of his people and the view of their Lakota world.
